Yerba mate is made from the dried leaves of the South American plant Ilex paraguariensis and is gaining popularity around the world as people discover its positive effects on well-being. It tastes similar to green tea, and yerba mate is said to have the power of coffee, the benefits of tea and the pleasure of eating chocolate.
Yerba mate contains a significant amount of vitamins and minerals. This tea also contains beneficial substances such as tannins, trace elements, chlorophyll, flavonoids and 15 amino acids. How to use:
Yerba mate is traditionally served hot in a dish called gour or calabash. It is drunk through a metal straw with a filter inside to prevent any bits from falling into the mouth.
